About Us

The Northeast Side Taildraggers R/C Aviation Club is one of central Indiana’s finest organizations of its type.  We’ve worked very hard to create a world-class flying site, and our membership is friendly and helpful.  We welcome all sorts of model aviation with any kind of power system.  Gasoline, nitro and electric-powered models are all well represented at NeST-RC.  Fixed wing, helicopters and multi-rotors are common.  We even have members who fly multi-rotors commercially. Some of our members build aircraft from scratch, while others fly “off-the-shelf” models.  We even have guys who build combat planes out of construction foam. Aircraft range in size from UMX micro models up to 1/3 scale gasoline-powered sport planes. EDF jets are often seen at our field, as well.

Facebook Group Page

The club maintains a Facebook group page (search for Northeast Side Taildraggers” on Facebook).  There is no cost or obligation to join the Facebook group page, and it is where most of the inter-member communication takes place.  Feel free to request access to that page.  One of the administrators will grant it as soon as they see it.

Guest Pilot Program

The club maintains a “guest pilot” program, which has two components: a student pilot program, and an experienced pilot program.

Student Pilot

Under the beginner program, the “student” pilot is paired with an “Intro-pilot” instructor. The student is ONLY allowed to fly under the direct supervision of the instructor, and is covered by the instructor’s AMA insurance policy. This program lasts for up to 60 days, at which time the student is expected to pay AMA and NeST-RC dues in order to continue flying at the NeST-RC flying site.

Experienced Guest

Experienced RC pilots with current AMA membership, are permitted to fly at NeST-RC as a guest of a NeST-RC member for up to 3 times. A NeST-RC member must be present, and the guest must agree to NeST-RC field rules. Violation of field rules is subject to denial of guest privileges. After 3 days as a guest, the guest is expected to pay NeST-RC club dues to continue flying at the NeST-RC air field.

For complete details on our guest pilot program, see our Club Introduction document.
